University Professor (former), Theatre Producer/Director (trying to be former but greasepaint in the blood can never be permanently stifled), Video Producer (former but still keep my hand in--love editing with Final Cut Pro), Games & Sims Designer (current--growing and learning with every project), Scenario-based Learning writer (what would you expect with my theatre background?), Social Media enthusiast (greatest thing since sliced, um . . . 3-D graphics!) seeking a home in corporate eLearning Design.

I wIll complete my IST certification at Indiana University this year. I'm fascinated by the potential of social media to bring a sense of joy back to learning. I want to be part of the revolution.

Hello,
I'm Lorretta Davis, a training and performance improvement professional (in transition between employment). While it is evident this site has been around for a while, my impression of this SN is "where have you been?". I am a doctoral candidate (Capella Univesity) and want to research some aspect of social learning/Web 2.0 for my dissertation. In the academic research literature, learning professionals seem to be missing; I see why - they're all here.
I look forward to lurking, learning, and contributing.

Hi,

My name is Sandeep Mahajan. My wife and I have recently started our own enterprise helping schools with various aspects of administration, training, curriculum design, documentation, etc. More information about us can be obtained at www.artoflearning.in.

My wife is an educationalist with diverse experiences and interests. She has worked with schools around the world (India, Indonesia, Canda) in different capacities. I am a finance professional, with extensive consulting experience, with multinational companies (also in different countries).

As you may have correctly assessed, both me and my wife have no IT experience. Digital learning is the mantra of the 21st century teacher and good educational institutions have taken steps to make ICT an integral part of their curriculum, delivery and student development practices.

Over the last few months, I have been researching how ICT and Web 2.0 is being used in education, but find that the literature is very vast and my research / learning / knowlege development initiatives need direction. I hope to use this forum to develop my basics in digital learning principals and tools and to learn how institutions have incorporated IT into education. Most of all, I would like to make friends will all of you who are part of this community.

I look forward to interacting with everyone.

I'm an elementary teacher by certification, but have been out of the classroom for many years dabbling in related areas. I consulted for Scholastic Inc. and others(mostly for technology products), been an adjunct education instructor for a local university, and am now in my second year of teaching English to adult immigrants in a nonprofit center. I love my work, but want to do contract work in elearning. I have been fascinated with the changes and possibilities for education that technology has brought and would love to get more involved in this field. I think I can bring my creativity and knowledge about teaching and learning to new levels of success via this medium. I took a class about using Dreamweaver in '08 at a tech college, but was totally confused and haven't touched it since. I really need to understand the mechanics of whatever the easiest elearning software is out there and I'm hoping to pick up info from sites like yours that will give practical help..

I'm interested in moving learning to the next level- by making learning on the job easier. We need to be nimble and quick to provide effective solutions.

Hi everyone,
Great to be a member of this exciting new network. I can already see a few familiar faces - eg Aaron Jarden, who works a few doors down with me here at the Polytech and Joyce Seitzinger from EIT in Hawkes Bay. I think it is an excellent idea to have an informal course in Web 2.0 literacy, especially when it is couched in the spirit of helping each other learn and sharing the knowledge and experience.

A group of us here at the Open Polytechnic attended the recent Teaching for Excellence, Excellence meets teaching conference in Palmerston North. Fresh from the experience, we have had the idea of creating our own Ning site called 'Eating E-Learning Lunch'. The purpose behind this is to carry on the conversations we had at the conference, inspire each other to take the plunge and explore what some of the exciting things we can do with Web 2.0 and act as an extension of the conversations we plan to have from now on once a month, face to face. I guess as it is a Ning site, it will give us practice at networking and also meant that we can link to sites like this.

So wish us luck with the venture and expect a few more members from our neck of the woods.

Cheers,
Pip Fowler
