My name is Eric and I am TWITTER-PATED. If you have a Twitter account, look me up: twitter.com/ericwilbanks

Personally, I resisted using Twitter for a long time as it seemed like a complete waste of motion. Then I saw Lee LeFever's Twitter in Plain English and immediately changed my mind. I've never looked back. Here are some of the ways I use Twitter:

1. Status Updates. This is how it was designed, so I do tweet about what's going on, mostly nights and weekends. Along those same lines, I have my Twitter updates synced up with Facebook, so all my Facebook friends get regular status updates from me.
2. Asking Questions. Twitter is a great place to get quick answers to quick questions. But it is also an interesting place to pose deeper or even rhetorical questions that get people thinking and responding. I do this quite regulary.
3. "Connecting." As a former Pastor, I have a community of folks that I stay connected to and we attempt to walk out our faith together in uncommon ways. If I've read something that I think we'll be helpful or thought-provoking, I may Tweet it. If I hear of a need or prayer request, I Tweet it.
4. Communicating Info. Whether it's eLearning, design, marketing or even sports info, I use Twitter to broadcast info that I find interesting or that I think my "followers" (sounds odd saying that) may find interesting. I also have my blog feed tied into Twitter, so whenever I post a new blog it shows up as a Tweet.

Looking forward to hearing how others use Twitter...

Darren Rowse from ProBlogger.com just launched http://www.twitip.com/. Looks like it could be useful to those who are interested in best practices for Twitter.

Hi All,

Brent and I have established a GroupTweet for the conference on the @dl08 twitter account. This means that you follow:

twitter.com/dl08

and then will get messages from anyone who sends a direct twitter message to dl08, e.g.,

d dl08 Hi Everyone

I'll be using this to stay in touch with folks at the conference. There's a bit of a delay - so it's not good for true backchannel chat, but still good to do things like getting together for beers.
