Virginia: once I found the international keyboard thing, I decided it was just good discipline for me to work at using the accent marks. I took four years of French in high school, but the last two were not at all challenging, we didn't have a language lab, and more than half the kids spoke French at home. (Not me -- three generations back, everyone in my family spoke Gaelic.
The best I can say is that I loved learning it so much that those neural networks haven't completely faded. But I still make plenty of masculine/feminine errors, and I have a bad habit of inventing French words based on alleged English counterparts.
I've seen French people in Second Life leaving out the accents also, but at least half my friends use them, so I'm going with the more orthodox flow.
Hey, Virginia -- not that you asked, but when writing French online I use the Windows language toolbar and switch to United States - International. Then I can type certain punctuation marks and get accented characters. Apostrophe + a = á (or Á), apostrophe + e = é; apostrophe + c = ç.
(To get the punctuation mark itself, you type the mark followed by a space.)
Thank you Virginia! I love the idea of making a list for faculty to create interest. I am going to try that before a session later in November when our center has a session on social bookmarking for all our faculty.
Hi Virginia!
Hope all is well...I'll be sure to post something on Facebook project from class. I wish I had more time to spend here--there's so much "stuff" I want to read and do~

I know we have faculty using PBWiki for sure! I hope his freshman year is a success.

What are you interested in learning more about?
