Hi Virginia and Michele! Great tag name! Thanks for making it available on Delicious. I see that I'm jumping in late, I've been off line for a while. I've seen in other Nings that the "Events" feature drags a lot of attention so it may be worth gi...

Reflections on Two Days of Faciliting the Work Literacy Course through Ning

Just wanted to capture some of what's going on as we finish up Day Two of the Web 2.0 for Learning Professionals Course.

Organizing the First Module
To set up the first week, we asked people what they wanted to learn about social networking and then I reviewed the questions to try to identify some major themes/issues. Harold and I Skyped last week while I was at Brandon Hall to discuss the major topical… Continue

Hi Michele:

I want to know how do I remove my membership. I have two profiles and I think it doesn't look professional. Please help me.

Hi, Michele -- I've been thinking about twitter since this ning began. I haven't really known where or when to bring up the topic. I'm not currently using twitter, but everyone is talking about it. I've looked at it, but I need to learn more before I jump in. From the outside looking in, it appears to be a never-ending IM that's out of control. :) I'm sure we've all had to deal with information overload, and that is my concern about adding twitter to my routine. I might have ignored twitter, but it is difficult to do when everyone appears to be praising it. Do you think there is a place in this ning to address this topic, or is twitter a topic for another time and place?

I have been catching up on missed sessions. Congratulations and thank you for a well thought out and well presented course. It is great to know that in the midst of "the credit crunch" that Web 2.0 facilities cost the enduser nothing but time and goodwill.

Just sending my "yes" RSVP for Friday, 10/24. Please let me know what I will need at this end in order to participate. I am saying yes before I know what I am getting into or how it will work; this does not increase my comfort level.

Is there an RSS feed for the entire community?

I've just created a portuguese language community to discuss Work Literacy.

I hope you don't mind...

Michele,

First of all, thanks so much for being the brains behind starting a learning community such as this. I plan to learn a great deal.

I, also, want to let you know about a possible problem with your RSS feed. I use an aggregator (Netvibes) to consolidate my sites and information. When I put your site's feed on it, the Work Literacy site literally became my aggregator, meaning when I would open Netvibes, I could not get to any other sites because the Work Literacy site would open instantaneously. I spent about 40 minutes, repeatedly opening my aggregator and racing the Work Literacy site to try and delete the feed. I was only able to accomplish the deletion when the internet dropped for a second which gave me time to click on the delete icon.

I'm sending you this explanation, not to complain, but instead in the spirit of learning community and social networking. Perhaps, something can be done so that others do not have the same experience.

In the meantime, I can't wait for the step in the learning process.
