"I posted a query about this to several of the groups that I've joined on LinkedIn and have received about a dozen responses so far." Linked In is a place you can go to get your questions answered, find work, and friends. It is amazing how far it has come."By the way, did you know that networking expert Jan Vermeiren has written a book about LinkedIn? It is called "How to REALLY use LinkedIn" (see: http://www.how-to-really-use-linkedin.com) He also gives away a free light version and access to w…

Hi folks
I just wanted to tell you that yesterday I used this blog as a good example to something that works in a blog.
I attended a conference about online marketing, and the general opinion was getting somewhat like: "web 2.0 takes an awful lot of time" and "what is it actually good for?".
So far I have only written one blog post in here, but the day I wrote it I was really feeling miserable about my position and duties at work. Within few hours I had several answers with tips and tricks an…

At a primary school Manning, a small town 65 miles east of Columbia, South Carolina, second grade teachers Holly Garneau and Anna Lynne Gamble are convinced that segregating elementary-age boys and girls produces immediate academic improvement—in both genders.
Eager to capitalize on their past progress, the two created a teaching plan for the upcoming semester. The kids will be in a coed environment for homeroom, lunch, and recess, then divide up for four hours each day to learn their math, sci…

I decided to post here about Week 4 instead of writing a long comment on the forums.
I’ve been using Google Reader and have been quite content with it. I can see the feeds like in an e-mail inbox, which works fine for me. I use several folders to sort the feeds and am able to track what’s new for a particular subject quite easily.
One of the aggregators recommended on Work Literacy is Netvibes. So, I created a Netvibes page today and found that it is quite good. You can add all sorts of feeds to…

This
Mashable post discusses the mainstream consumer adoption of RSS. The post questions the finding that 11% of people use RSS when it is everywhere and most don't even know they are using it. I think the point is well made. Many people still don't even understand the concept behind the technology when they use the term RSS. Although there are…

This is a blog for the young people using the new Children's centre in Carnforth. I have kicked started it with posts about our programme for the near future, but the aim is for young people to post their comments, art work, audio and video. Also to change the design to reflect their taste rather than mine.
What ever you want it to be
Please have a look, leave comments and drop in when the centre opens.

I confess I have started multiple blogs with the most ambitious intentions of expressing daily discoveries, thoughts and connections about learning and technology. I can't seem to stick with the regular process of publishing creative posts and I fight the 'blogging inferiority complex' since I inevitably compare my rudimentary attempts against other blogging experts.
So how have I tried to conquer this floundering blogging habit? By refocusing my efforts to communicate more personal learning pu…

I have tried a lot of different blogging tools. Some have worked OK and some have been pretty bad. I have recently started to use the blogging editor built into Flock. It was always a cool idea, but for a long time it didn't really work with Blogger. But for the last several months it has worked really well. The down side is that that social networking sites like Ning don't seem to have adopted the ATOM publishing protocol for the blog component of the site. So I am posting this post from within…

It is often challenging, in my opinion, to find the time to blog. When you have a really busy day ahead it is not "natural" to stop and say.... "I should post to my blog." But interestingly, I think that you may want to consider it. Even a short post can help provide a moment to pause and reflect on the day.
For me, I have to drive over two hours for a short meeting, the back in the car and drive two more hours to the next meeting, then in the car again, with friends, for an hour. Once at my fi…

If you are interested in leveraging open content and collaboration in your organization, then you might want to consider making blogging part of your learning program. To accomplish this task you might want to consider what blogging does for the organization, how it will impact your organizations performance, and how to get your employees to participate.
What does a blog do for your organization?

As I'm not used to blogging (has only tried it a bit in different situations) I will focus on my own learnings. Unfortunately I'm leaving for vacation to day, so I may not follow up on it before next week - but if I don't start now, I'll never do it!
For this blog I haven't got a specific learning goal, and I haven't got a plan - so bear with me. But I have a job that I see as very demanding. One of my main tasks at the moment is to implement web 2.0 in parts of the organisation. It's a great t…

This is a really interesting learning community. I hope that I can find the time to get more involved in engaging in the learning process. I am of course worried about the time commitment, but maybe I will be able to at least jump in from time to time. One of the really interesting aspect of this learning community is that it is really a positive experience, the learners are motivated, the activities are open and shared, the outside world can come in and be a part of it, and the learners are lea…

The beauty of learner blogs in higher education is that they stand for the gaining of knowledge quintessence in each individual student; it’s solely owned, it’s a one-way monologue or voice that can be shared with the rest of the learning community and the world, if need be. Yet, with the importance of ownership, others can comment, but cannot contribute to or change the initial shared idea in anyway.
Dually significant is that many instructors acknowledge with using student blogs in their cours…

I've created several microblogging groups over at
Utterli please consider joining me there.
The nice thing about Utterli is that it is not limited by 140 characters and includes audio, pics and/or video. So, it gives options to users as to how they wish to microblog. Also, groups can be created as private or public with open or closed membership; visibility is public or group only.

The new 360 report by the

BECTA report on web 2.0 in UK schools I wrote about yesterday, and the…
